The best year in the club’s history ended with its last match. In 2007 Team NoA played the grand final of the Electronic Sports World Cup in Paris and of the World Cyber Games in Seattle, and finished second at both.
The last line-up
The roster that played both finals came together in May 2007, when Sunde replaced Paddy. With zonic, mJe, hpx and ave it was entirely Danish, and so was the organisation: Martin “guddo” Cording had bought it from BrandTheGame in 2006.
zonic and hpx had been there since January 2006, when they arrived for the roster that won shgOpen. mJe joined in July 2006 and ave in August, both from Spirit of Amiga.
Paris, 8 July
At ESWC 2007 NoA reached the grand final and met Pentagram. The first map, Train, went 5–16. Nuke went to overtime, and NoA took it 22–18 to level the series. The decider, Inferno, finished 9–16. Second place paid $24,000.
Seattle, October
Three months later, at the World Cyber Games in Seattle from 3 to 7 October, NoA reached a second world final in the same year. They lost to the French team eMulate at the Qwest Field Event Center and took the silver medal and $25,000.
December
On 17 December 2007 Team NoA merged with mortal Teamwork. zonic, mJe, hpx, ave and Sunde became mTw’s Danish Counter-Strike team, and guddo became its coach and manager. In 2008 that core won the KODE5 Global Finals, the Intel Extreme Masters Continental Finals and the World Cyber Games.
zonic later turned to coaching. With Astralis he won four Counter-Strike Majors between 2017 and 2019.
Both finals of 2007 are on the finals page, with the community uploads of the ESWC final and the WCG final. The line-up has its own squad page.
